Square One presents: CLUB WOMAD

Square One have programmed the Club at WOMAD festival, Rivermed, Reading. (28th-30th July)

Friday 28 July: Reggaecentric niceness!

JSTAR & MC Honey Brown (UK)
JSTAR's inspired, strictly limited 7" blends have won this fast-rising man of mystery plenty of admirers and a glorious title - undisputed king of the hip hop/reggae mash-up. His choice mix of hip hop, dancehall, reggae and funk will be expertly complemented by hype man Honey Brown.

Trojan Soundsystem with Brother Culture, Chuckie Banton, SuperFour & Top Cat (UK)
Representing the formidable Trojan Records, Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad mix ska, reggae and rocksteady with large doses of live performance in a classic sound system style. Brother Culture, Chuckie Banton, SuperFour and Top Cat - MCs of the highest order - will be leading the dance. Reggae music for all the people!

Heatwave with Quality Diamond & Yungun (UK/Jamaica)
Described as "the most exciting new luminaries of London's dancehall scene", Heatwave's sets take in a wide range of Jamaican-oriented sounds: bashment, reggaeton, hip hop, soca, reggae and ragga jungle. Top British rapper Yungun and Jamaican MC Quality Diamond will be on microphone duties.

Saturday 29 July: Braziliant

Mr Bongo DJs (UK)
Representing the awesome Mr Bongo empire (record shop and label), this trio of DJs play storming sets that have pounded dancefloors from Tokyo to Copacabana. Expect a sublime mix of samba, batucada, funk, hip hop, soul and jazz, all laced with a strong Brazilian flavour.

Marcelo D2 (Brazil)
This Rio rapper, appearing at Rivermead with his full live band, brilliantly marries samba and hip hop - creating the perfect partnership. His latest album, Procura Da Batida Perfeita, translates as looking for the perfect beat. From where were listening, it sounds like he's found it!

DJ Patife & Cleveland Watkiss (Brazil/UK)
Born and raised in Brazil's clubbing capital, Sao Paulo, Patife lives and breathes music. He played a big part in introducing his country to the sounds of drum & bass - a scene now huge in Brazil - and is considered one of its finest producers. Joining Patife is the extraordinary MC Cleveland Watkiss.

Norman Jay (UK)
Awarded an MBE for his significant contribution to music - including setting up the legendary Good Times Sound System, pioneering radio station Kiss FM and helming the inimitable Talkin Loud label - Norman Jay's impeccable selection of party classics never fails to ensure that the good times roll.
